We firmly believe that the transition to 100% renewable power generation can only work if energy producers and consumers are intelligently connected so that electricity is always available when it is needed. Unlike many other storage technologies, battery technology is already both cost-effective and technically established – and is therefore already highly scalable. With the development of battery energy storage systems (BESS), we ensure that the energy grids are stabilized and relieved so that the expansion of renewable energies is accelerated. We want energy storage to be established as a sustainable and efficient component of the renewable energy landscape that enables flexibility and security of supply for the entire energy system. This is why we are involved in the Energy Storage Systems Association (BVES)<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Our core market for the development of BESS is Germany. We are looking at both stand-alone and hybrid or site-integrated systems in combination with photovoltaic parks (co-location).<\/p>\n

Battery storage systems create flexibility in the electricity market. Germany wants to phase out coal-fired power generation by 2030 and only operate gas-fired power plants as conventional power plants. To achieve this, we need new flexible generation capacity in the near future. Battery storage systems can provide this quickly and cost-effectively and should therefore provide a large proportion of the required capacity by 2035.<\/p>\n

                      John Hill is responsible leading UK project development activities. He started with greentech in 2022 and oversees the process from inception through to Ready to Build. Before joining greentech, John gained extensive experience as a Management Consultant within the agricultural sector. In addition to his consulting work, he successfully managed, operated, and expanded his own dairy farm. One of his notable achievements includes project managing the construction of a new greenfield site dairy, which facilitated the expansion of his herd from 120 to 700 cows. He has been and remains very active within the local Agricultural community and held the position of Chairman for his local buying co-operative Vale Farmers for two years between 2021 and 2023. John Hill studied Agriculture and Land and Farm management at Harper Adams University.<\/p>\n

                      Yaw Ofori leads the national team of seasoned solar and storage specialists in seeking out new greenfield development opportunities in the UK. He has been active in the PV industry in the UK since 2006, and has worked for several of the main players within the sector, such as Solar Technologies, British Gas Solar and Conergy. He comes from a background in PV key component sales and EPC, from which he moved into Project Development and deployment. In more recent years, until 2016, he has focused on greenfield developments and the acquisition of project rights, in offering turnkey operational sites to clients.                       As Chief Development Officer (CDO), Oliver Herzog is responsible for the group-wide project development of photovoltaic and battery storage solutions in greentech’s core markets of Germany, the UK and Italy – from project identification through to construction readiness.<\/p>\n

                      Oliver Herzog studied Business Administration in Cologne. In 2004, he started his career in the PV industry at Conergy AG, where he held various senior management positions. There, he most recently headed the company’s project development and financing activities as Managing Director in Singapore and India until 2011. After interim positions at a consultancy specialising in renewable energies and an issuing house, he moved to Enerparc AG in 2015, where he was responsible for the external EPC business for third-party clients as Managing Director. Oliver Herzog has been a managing partner at greentech since 2020.<\/p>\n

                      Florian St\u00fcwe studied Industrial Engineering, specialising in Energy and Environmental Management, at the universities of Flensburg, Alicante (Spain) and Koblenz. He has been working for greentech since 2016 and was responsible for the management of technical plant operations team in senior positions from 2018 to 2023. He has been part of the business development team for the BESS division since 2024.<\/p>\n

                      Moritz von Daniels studied industrial engineering at the University of Bayreuth, the Technical University of Berlin and the Politecnico in Milan. His work focuses on the project development of battery storage systems. Previously, he worked in the energy sector and most recently at E.R.                       Jens Liebold studied industrial engineering at the HTW Dresden. He has many years of experience in the development and construction of battery storage systems.
