greentech publishes first sustainability report

Feb 22, 2024

Hamburg, 22.02.2024 – The photovoltaic specialist greentech has published its first sustainability report. The Hamburg-based group is thus underlining its commitment to sustainable corporate development.

“In recent years, we have continuously expanded our business areas and now provide all services in the PV value chain. This gives us effective leverage to act not only in an economically self-determined manner, but to also act sustainably,” explains Ingo Rehmann, Managing Partner and founder of greentech. “Our first sustainability report is the starting point for this and provides insights into our sustainability activities, which we have dealt with intensively in recent months. It is very important to us to continuously develop our goals, measures and our potential for greater sustainability and to make them transparent.”

The report was prepared in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and provides business partners, investors and other interested parties with a detailed insight into sustainability activities in 2022, clustered into the areas of „Environment“, „Social“ and „Governance“ (ESG).

The establishment of transparent sustainability reporting enables the greentech Group to position itself clearly. Sustainability-related topics are considered along the greentech value chain and presented with reference to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the GRI standards. In addition, greentech has been a signatory to the UN Global Compact since October 2022, which is committed to making globalization more socially and environmentally friendly. In order to further expand this commitment in the future, greentech set up its own ESG-department specifically for this purpose. It focuses on the further development and implementation of internal measures and targets for a sustainable company and reports directly to the company management.

Together with the sustainability report, greentech also publishes its corporate carbon footprint. It was calculated in collaboration with independent experts in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Scope 1, 2 and 3. Thanks to the resulting transparency regarding emission sources, the focus in the coming year will be on developing an emissions reduction plan.

In future, the plan is to publish an annual sustainability report – from the following year in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). For Ingo Rehmann, the report is not just a milestone in the company’s development: “Above all, it is a promise to continue to put our heart and soul into the energy transition and a life-friendly future.”
