Hamburg, 16 June 2026– European solar and storage specialist greentech is introducing the greenCORE PPC, its first in-house developed power plant controller. This “Made in Germany” product marks the expansion of the Hamburg-based company’s existing services in the field of communication and control technology, adding a key component for the operation of modern renewable energy power plants.
In-house development as a strategic step
The greenCORE PPC serves as the centrepiece of greentech’s proprietary SCADA system, taking on central control and monitoring tasks for solar plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid power plant configurations, including wind.
The greenCORE PPC was developed by greentech’s in-house Engineering department for power plant IT. The motivation was clear: In the case of battery energy storage systems in particular, the power plant controller is a highly critical component – it must be available around the clock to meet regulatory requirements and enable energy trading. “A power plant controller is not a component where you can make compromises. Developing a high-quality and reliable product for our customers that meets our high standards in communication and control technology was the central motivation behind this development. As an O&M service provider for PV and BESS plants, we know the importance of resilient power plant IT combined with a high service level. All our customers will now benefit from this,” says Jörn Carstensen, Chief Technical Officer at greentech.
Proof of performance has already been established: the greenCORE PPC has been successfully commissioned in five plants – four photovoltaic power plants and one co-location grey electricity storage system are already operating in regular service with the new controller.
Technical features
The greenCORE PPC is certified in accordance with VDE-AR-N 4110/4120/4130; for smaller plants, VDE-AR-N 4105 additionally applies. It enables precise active and reactive power control in full compliance with the requirements of the respective grid operator. Standardised interfaces in accordance with IEC 60870-5-101/104 ensure reliable communication with control centres; smart interfaces allow authorised partners reading and writing access to data and ensure seamless integration with various energy traders and PPA offtakers. Optional redundancy protects against curtailment and trading losses.
Only an internet connection is required for operation. Secure remote access to the power plant network is available via greentech’s own solution, greenACCESS. greentech therefore delivers not just a standalone controller, but a fully integrated, end-to-end system from a single source – including the highest level of IT security and optional redundancy to protect revenues against disruptions or failures. Long-term IT service can be ensured via greenCARE. Hybrid power plant configurations comprising PV, wind and BESS are fully supported – right up to the substation level.
The greenCORE PPC is designed for both greenfield projects and retrofits of existing plants in the context of repowering, storage upgrades or updated grid connection requirements.
Planning, implementation and commissioning, as well as the ongoing support of IT solutions, is carried out by a dedicated, highly specialised team. Every project is executed with the utmost care and with due consideration of customer- and plant-specific requirements.
