Hamburg, 18 December 2025 – The local council has approved the “Satzungsbeschluss” (similar to resolution statement) for a large-scale photovoltaic project by Hamburg-based solar and storage company greentech, thereby laying the planning law foundation for one of the most powerful solar projects in the region. greentech is planning a plant with a capacity of around 125 MWp on approximately 110 hectares. Calculatory, the plant can supply electricity to over 30,000 average 4-person households. The grid connection is to be made to a new pylon belonging to TenneT and Schleswig-Holstein Netz in Stockelsdorf.
The photovoltaic system is also designed to reduce peak electricity consumption with the help of one or more storage units and to feed electricity into the grid during off-peak hours to support the grid.
Oliver Herzog, Chief Development Officer at greentech, states: ‘What is particularly noteworthy about this project is the highly constructive and professional cooperation with the municipality of Ahrensbök and the village of Lebatz, which are closely involved in the project.’
The extensive cultivation of the area in the future will promote biodiversity. In addition, greentech is creating its own neighbouring fallow land covering more than 10 hectares specifically for the skylark. A visual barrier in accordance with a specially prepared glare assessment ensures that reflections towards residents and traffic areas are minimised at times.
Power grid issues delay project launch
However, the originally planned commissioning in the first quarter of 2027 is no longer feasible: TenneT has reported short-term short-circuit problems with the transmission grid line currently under construction, which will affect several renewable energy projects in the region, including this one. greentech has been given a grid connection date in the first quarter of 2029.
